Game 1 of the WNBA Finals saw the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries make headlines over their actions before the matchup.
To be precise, neither stayed on the court during the national anthem of the United States of America, a.k.a. 'The Star-Spangled Banner,' before Game 1 of the 2026 WNBA Finals.
The decision sparked massive outrage on social media, as fans were furious with this disrespect of the national anthem.
As a result, many fans demanded strict action to be taken by the league to ensure this doesn't repeat.
Taking advantage of this, X handle 'Fever Updates' has released a claim that the league has allegedly fined both teams a measly $30 for their actions.
"The WNBA has fined players from the Golden State Valkyries and the Atlanta Dream $30 each for failing to stand during the national anthem, an act viewed as disrespectful," the X handle posted .
The claim is completely false and there's no evidence of a $30 fine for the Dream and the Valkyries by the league.
Despite that, the post has gained massive traction on X, with fans calling out the W for imposing such a measly fine.
All eyes will be on Game 2 of the WNBA Finals and whether both teams will once again walk out during the national anthem at Chase Center.
