Vance Meek, UK Wildcats Wire Mon, October 19, 2026 at 2:27 PM UTC · 4 min read About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement In what has been a wild college football season, the Kentucky football team has become one of the big stories. Under first year coach Will Stein, they have produced a number of dramatic victories, including a win over Oklahoma on Saturday, as they keep rising in the SEC power rankings.

The Wildcats are 6-1 after pulling out a win over the Sooners where they had to battle back late. The defense forced four turnovers, and Kenny Minchey made some clutch throws late. Ty Bryant ended it by intercepting John Mateer.

Around the rest of the SEC, things were crazy. Three of the conference's teams ranked in the top ten, and five of the top 25, lost in week seven. The biggest loss was by the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs , who lost to Auburn. The Texas Longhorns and Alabama Crimson Tide also fell.

With all of the drama this week, Kentucky jumped in the US LBM Coaches Poll , and they follow suit in the conference power rankings. Here is where they land this week.

The Commodores started the season with promise, but they have lost four in a row, including Saturday's loss to Arkansas. Two Jared Curtis interceptions were the biggest difference.

K.J. Jackson out-dueled Curtis, and avoided turnovers to help them to a win. The Razorbacks are looking to finish the season strong, and gain momentum going into 2027.

The Aggies won, but they beat up on a team that they probably should have beaten by even more. They play an angry Alabama team next week.

The Sooners defense is one of the best in the country, and they limited Kentucky. However, Mateer and the offense continues to turn the ball over too much, and struggle to score.

The Gamecocks were on a bye this week, but drop a spot simply because of the wackiness of the SEC this week.

With Kamario Taylor out, the Bulldogs were dominated by LSU this week. They have now lost two consecutive games after a red hot start to the 2026 season.

Jadan Baugh rushed for nearly 100 yards and a touchdown as the Gators upset Texas. Florida has been inconsistent this season, but when they're on their game, they are very good.

Uneven play continues to follow Arch Manning and the Longhorns. They have now lost two straight games where the quarterback play simply wasn't good enough.

The upset of the week goes to the Tigers, who took down top ranked Georgia. The defense forced mistakes, and Byrum Brown made enough plays to get the win.

It was a tough day for the Tigers, who were dominated by Ole Miss. Austin Simmons threw for over 300 yards, but wasn't able to find the endzone in an ugly loss.

The Crimson Tide have lost two straight games, and Keelon Russell was stymied by the Vols defense. He threw two interceptions and fumbled once in the game.

Sam Leavitt was at the top of his game on Saturday, throwing for 289 yards and 4 touchdowns. The defense took advantage of a Bulldogs team that was missing Kamario Taylor.

The Wildcats did it again. After trailing for most of the game, and not playing very well, they made plays when it mattered an came away with their sixth win of the season.

The Volunteers defense forced Keelon Russell into three turnovers, and completely shut down Alabama's offense. DeSean Bishop had 159 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Gunner Stockton had his worst game of the season, including a fumble late in the game that resulted in Auburn getting the win. They are still a championship contender.

Trinidad Chambliss tossed three touchdown passes, and Kewan Lacy rushed for 122 yards as Ole Miss blew out Missouri. They're back on top of the SEC this week.
