Lonely Island memberJorma Tacconeis opening up about his time behind the scenes atSaturday Night Live— and naming one host who he says left a lasting impression, for the wrong reasons.

During a recent appearance on The Daily Beast'sObsessedpodcast, Taccone, 49, reflected on his early days at the long-running sketch show, where he worked alongside collaboratorsAndy Sambergand Akiva Schaffer to help usherSNLinto the digital era with viral shorts.

“I will say in general, I liked almost every host that came toSNL,” Taccone shared on the podcast’s April 24 episode.

But there was one notable exception, he added.

“I will say the one person who I wasn't super geeked on atSNL— I've never said this before— isKevin Spacey. Did not enjoy that and felt very uncomfortable around him,” Taccone admitted.

Spacey, a two-time Academy Award winner, was once one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors, known for performances in films likeAmerican BeautyandThe Usual Suspects, as well as his starring role on the Netflix seriesHouse of Cards.

But his career faced a dramatic shift in 2017, when actorAnthony Rapppublicly accused Spacey of sexual misconduct, alleging that an incident occurred when Rapp was a minor. Following the allegation, Spacey was removed fromHouse of Cards, and additional claims surfaced in the months that followed.

Spacey has consistently denied the allegations. In 2021, a jury found him not liable in a civil case related to Rapp’s accusation.

Last year, Taccone shared that he is “insanely lucky” to be alive after falling 20 feet at his home as he spoke from the hospital on an episode ofThe Lonely Island & Seth Meyerspodcast.

Taccone explained that the accident occurred at his farmhouse in Connecticut on the morning of his daughter's birthday as he was putting up lights while using a ladder borrowed from his neighbor.

“I was painting this barn, and then I was like, as a final touch, I should hang these lights that will go around the barn,” he said. “… So I'm using this ladder that my neighbor let me borrow, and he was like, ‘Hey, this ladder is bad, like, you shouldn't use this ladder. It doesn't have a footing thing …’ ”

Following the accident, Taccone went to the hospital, where he underwent surgery. He said he shattered his pelvis on his left side “pretty badly” and detached his sacrum from his spine, among other injuries from the fall.

Vanna White compares “Wheel of Fortune” hosts Pat Sajak and Ryan Seacrest

Vanna White says that comparing Pat Sajak and Ryan Seacrest is like "comparing apples to oranges."

Key points

  • The Wheel of Fortune cohost also shares how she spends her days when she's not filming the game show.

  • White also discusses the homemade gifts that she's given Seacrest and Sajak.

How similar arePat SajakandRyan Seacrest?

Vanna Whiteshares her thoughts on how her twoWheel of Fortunecohosts compare with one another. During a conversation withEntertainment Weekly, the TV personality weighs the similarities of working with Sajak, who hosted the game show from 1981 to 2024, and with Seacrest, who took over upon Sajak's retirement two years ago.

"I would say it's comparing apples to oranges," White says. "They're both great. Everybody has their own style, and people watching the show can see their personality."

She adds, "You've watched Pat for years and you see how he is, and you watch Ryan and you see howheis. They're both incredible to work with and easy to work with. And I, of course, have enjoyed working with both of them!"

White, who is an avid crocheter, says that both Sajak and Seacrest have received the same homemade gift from her. "I make blankets and give them away to all my friends," she says. I made Ryan one, I made Pat one, and I made them for all my friends that have had babies."

The hobby extends back to White's youth. "My grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was a little girl, and then I put it away," she explains. "As a teenager, I don't want to crochet. And I picked it up, goodness, probably 30 years ago. And it's just a great hobby for me. It's very therapeutic. And my blankets are homemade gifts that you can't buy."

SinceWheelonly produces episodes a few days per month, White has maintained a healthy work-life balance. "Fortunately, our schedule has been that way for the 40-plus years I've done the show," she says. "So with my kids growing up, it was always great. I could take them to school. I could make cookies after school or help them with their homework."

Now,Wheel's production schedule gives her time for other pursuits. "Today, obviously my kids are grown," she says. "And my biggest thing now is playing golf. That's my little hobby. Iloveto play golf when I'm not filming."

White hopes the show's enduring popularity will persist long into the future. "We do whatever we can to make it better," she says. "We're always looking to keep it fresh. I have worn over 8,000 dresses on the show, so every single day you're going to see me in a new dress, you're going to see new puzzles, you're going to see new jokes and new contestants and new winners. So I think we keep it pretty fresh. People still watch and enjoy the show, and I hope they will continue to."

“I know the saying ‘the days are long, but the years are short’ is one of the most cliche sayings, bc it’s said so much, but I now know that cliches are only said so much bc they continue to ring true in every lifetime throughout the test of time.”

Serial killer pleads guilty to 'brutal attacks,' DA says

Aserial killerwho preyed on his elderly neighbors in a public housing development has pleaded guilty to three murders in exchange for a sentence of 30 years to life in prison, prosecutors say.

USA TODAY

Kevin Gavin, 71 of Brooklyn, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree murder on April 24, for the killings he committed from 2015 to 2021 in the New York City Housing Authority’s Carter G. Woodson Houses, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said in astatement. The victims trusted Gavin for help with running errands and repairs, the district attorney's office said.

Gavin, who lived in the same building, killed Myrtle McKinney, 82, in 2015; Jacolia James, 83, in 2019; and Juanita Caballero, 78, in 2021. He was caught after he used Caballero's debit card, authorities said.

After his arrest in 2021, Gavin confessed to all three murders, the district attorney's office said.

"This defendant exploited elderly women who trusted him, gained access to their homes, and murdered them in a series of brutal attacks that shocked the conscience. These victims were vulnerable neighbors who deserved safety and dignity, and instead had their lives stolen by someone they believed was there to help," Gonzalez said.

Serial killer went undetected for years

The first victim, McKinney, was found dead in her Brownsville neighborhood apartment in November 2015 by her home health aide, Reuters reported at the time. She had been stabbed in the neck with a knife, but at first, authorities attributed her death to natural causes and no autopsy was initially performed.

It wasn't until weeks later that a funeral director preparing McKinney's body for burial noticed the stab wound, reported theNew York Timesin 2015. After the discovery, police began investigating her death as a murder. An autopsy then found her cause of death was the stabbing and blunt force injuries to her head and torso, according to the Times.

James was killed on about April 30, 2019, when Gavin "stomped" on her neck and chest, the district attorney's office said.

"She didn't deserve this," Edward James, her son, toldNBC4 New Yorkat the time.

The 2019 killing led the victim's loved ones to advocate for security cameras in the public housing building, NBC4 reported.

DNA from Jacolia James' body was matched to Gavin, authorities said after he was eventually arrested.

It wasn't until 2021 that Gavin was apprehended, after the third murder. Authorities said he strangled Caballero by wrapping a telephone cord around her neck while robbing her on about Jan. 14, 2021. She wasfound dead by her son.

"My mother was brutally murdered, brutally murdered,” Steven Caballero said, according to theTimes. "I can never get the vision of seeing my mother out of my eyes."

Gavin was caught on camera using Caballero's debit card at multiple locations, authorities said. He was arrested Jan. 21, 2021. He told investigators he argued with each victim over money he said they owed him, the district attorney's office said in 2021 when it announced charges.
